Exporting Your Maps

Notemap supports multiple export formats so you can use your maps anywhere — whether you need an image for a presentation, a document outline, or AI-generated written content.

Export Formats

PNG (Free)

High-resolution image of your entire map. PNG export captures everything visible on your canvas, including expanded nodes, colors, and shapes. This is the go-to format for sharing maps in chats, emails, or slide decks.

SVG

Scalable vector graphic that stays crisp at any size. SVG is perfect for embedding in documents, websites, or design tools where you need resolution-independent output.

Markdown

Converts your tree into a structured Markdown document with proper heading levels. The root node becomes an H1, its children become H2s, and so on. This is a fast way to turn a brainstorming session into a document outline.

Plain Text

A simple indented text representation of your map. Each level of depth adds indentation, giving you a clean, readable outline that works anywhere.

OPML

Outline Processor Markup Language — a standard format compatible with other outliner and mind mapping apps. Use OPML when you need to move your maps between tools.

HTML

A full web page containing your map structure. Open it in any browser or embed it in a website.

PDF

A print-ready PDF document of your map. Useful for sharing with people who need a polished, non-editable version.

JSON

The raw mind map data in JSON format. Useful for developers, custom integrations, or backing up the underlying data structure.

AI Article (Pro)

AI reads your entire map and converts it into a well-structured article with an introduction, organized sections, and a conclusion. The output is polished, readable prose — not just a list of nodes.

AI Summary (Pro)

AI generates an executive summary of your map, including an overview, key points, main insights, and a conclusion. Great for sharing the essence of a complex map without the full detail.

How to Export

  1. Open the map you want to export.
  2. Go to File > Export in the menu bar, or click the export button in the toolbar.
  3. Choose your desired format.
  4. Select a destination and save.

What Gets Exported

  • PNG captures the visible map exactly as it appears on your canvas — expanded nodes, colors, shapes, and connection lines are all included.
  • Text-based exports (Markdown, Plain Text, OPML, HTML) preserve the full tree structure regardless of which nodes are expanded or collapsed.
  • AI exports use your configured AI model to analyze the map content and generate polished written content from it.
Tip

Use Markdown export to quickly turn a brainstorming map into a document outline. You can paste the result directly into your writing app and start expanding each section.
