Task Tracking
Notemap lets you mark nodes as “done” to track progress directly within your mind map. Whether you are managing a project, working through a checklist, or tracking study progress, done status turns your map into an actionable tool.

Marking a Node as Done
Select the node you want to mark and press Shift+D to toggle its done status. You can also right-click the node and choose Mark as Done. The node receives a visual strikethrough or checkmark style, making it immediately clear that this item is complete.
To toggle it back to undone, use the same shortcut or menu option again.
If you have multiple nodes selected (via Cmd+Click), pressing Shift+D toggles done status on all selected nodes at once.
Marking a Node and All Its Children
When an entire branch is complete, you can mark a node and all its children as done from the inspector panel. Select the node, then use the “Toggle with children” option in the inspector. Every descendant of that node will be marked as done in one step. This is especially useful for completing a whole section of a project or checklist at once.
Using the Toolbar
The bottom toolbar includes a checkbox button that toggles the done status of the currently selected node. This provides a quick, mouse-friendly alternative to the keyboard shortcuts.
Resetting Done Status
To clear all done markers from your map, right-click on the canvas background and choose Reset > Reset Done Status. This sets every node back to its default undone state, giving you a clean slate.
Ideas for Task Tracking
- Project planning: Break a project into branches for each phase, then mark tasks as done as you complete them.
- Checklists: Create a simple list of items as child nodes and check them off one by one.
- Study progress: Map out chapters or topics and mark them done as you work through the material.
- Writing outlines: Outline sections of an article or report, then mark each section done as you draft it.
- Meeting agendas: List discussion points and mark them off during the meeting.
Combine done status with colors to create a visual task board. Use green for completed items, red for urgent tasks, and yellow for items in progress. The combination of color and done status gives you a powerful at-a-glance view of where things stand.
