Daily Notes
Daily Notes give you a dedicated space to capture thoughts, plans, and ideas every day. Each day gets its own mind map automatically, making it effortless to build a habit of daily reflection and note-taking.

How It Works
Daily Notes is a built-in feature that creates a fresh mind map for each day. When you open today’s daily note, Notemap either opens the existing map for today or creates a new one automatically. There is no setup required and no extra steps to get started.
Accessing Daily Notes
You can access your daily notes from the sidebar or through a keyboard shortcut. Today’s note is always just one click or keystroke away, making it easy to drop in a quick thought whenever inspiration strikes.
Past Daily Notes
All your previous daily notes are accessible from the file tree, organized by date. This creates a natural journal of your thinking over time. Scroll back through past days to review what you were working on, revisit ideas you captured, or find notes from a specific date.
What to Use Daily Notes For
Daily notes are flexible and work well for many purposes:
- Daily planning — Map out your priorities, tasks, and goals for the day each morning
- Journaling — Capture reflections, observations, and personal thoughts in a visual format
- Fleeting ideas — Jot down ideas as they come to you throughout the day before they slip away
- Meeting notes — Use the daily note to capture notes from all your meetings in one place
- End-of-day review — Summarize what you accomplished and what carries over to tomorrow
Full Mind Map Capabilities
Daily notes are not simplified or limited in any way. They are full mind maps with access to every feature Notemap offers:
- Add as many nodes as you need
- Apply colors and shapes to organize your thoughts visually
- Use rich notes for detailed content on any node
- Attach files to nodes
- Create cross-links between nodes
- Use AI features to expand on your ideas
Integration with Your Workspace
Daily notes live in your workspace alongside all your other mind maps. This means you can link daily notes to other notemaps and vice versa. For example, if you capture a project idea in your daily note, you can later link it to a dedicated project map where you develop the idea further.
Daily notes are stored as regular .notemap files in your workspace. If your workspace is in a cloud-synced folder, your daily notes will sync across all your devices automatically.
Start each day with a quick brain dump in your daily note, then organize the best ideas into dedicated maps later. This keeps your daily note fast and low-pressure while ensuring good ideas get the attention they deserve.
